This month, we are placing a spotlight on the portion of Kenosha County’s population without a High School Diploma. To visualize and understand this data better, we encourage everyone to explore our County Overview Dashboard. By selecting the “Census Tract Characteristics” tab and using the dropdown filter, you can color code the map to see the percentage of residents without a High School Diploma in various Census Tracts across the County.
Why is this information important? Because we, at BOF, are collaborating with Gateway Technical College and YWCA to support the expansion of the HSED 5.09 Program into Kenosha County. Our goal is to collect valuable data from potential, current, and past participants of the program to ensure it meets the needs of Kenosha residents. The HSED 5.09 Program is specifically designed for adult learns aged 18 ½ years or older. It aims to provide them with a High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) while removing barriers to gaining employment. The program includes a 4-week pre-HSED session, followed by a 16-week Work Ready (WR) HSED program. The Work Ready model has proven to be more successful than the traditional GED model, and we are excited to support its positive impact on Kenosha County’s workforce.
