Last month Principal Joel Kaufmanm at Brass Community School presented compelling data about last year's student attendance. Our Lincoln Park/Uptown CCN recognizes that attendance is one factor that impacts reading and math proficiency at Brass and as a result began to explore a Walking School Bus to address absenteeism. Brass Community School is a "commuter school" where many of its students live within a 2-mile radius and don't qualify for district transportation. If you are familiar with our work, you may be aware that this network worked on a Walking School Bus a few years ago but had to hit pause due to the pandemic. Join us as we work to bring this project to fruition at Brass!

This month BOF is partnering with Chase Bank’s Community Manager Annette Washington, to host a homebuying workshop in both the Wilson Heights and Lincoln Park neighborhoods. Our goal is to equip families with the tools to pursue home ownership. Dinner and childcare will be provided so if you or anyone you know is interested, please register using the links on the flyer and share this info with your networks.
We know that it takes a village to raise a child! So, join us in the work of convening the village.
