Building Our Future

Building Our Future, can mean many things, but in the context of this, and future articles, it will mean, ‘Ensuring the Cradle to Career Success of Kenosha’s Children’.

Diverse sectors of Kenosha’s Leadership have committed to this big, audacious goal. Why? Because we believe our children are our Number One Resource, and pooling our efforts together to collectively impact this objective is a win for all.

When LMI Packaging Solutions moved to Kenosha twenty-five years ago, much work had been done to prep this community for growth. All who relocated here, enjoyed the benefits of the vision and hard work of the previous generations’ leaders’.  We believe it is now our turn to create a vision for continued growth, and a quality of life people can expect when they live here.

When Jamie Vollmer, a respected business leader, and champion for student success, spoke to us two years ago, he demonstrated why Schools Can’t Do It Alone. It really does take a village to pay forward the advantages we have received.

And so, we have created Building Our Future. It is not another new program. On the contrary, it is a framework that will align all the great programs we already have in Kenosha, creating a common language of metrics for us to speak, and align our efforts for the benefit of our children.

Meetings have been ongoing, and we have identified five outcome areas we will focus on: Community Engagement, Kindergarten Readiness, School Success (Reading/ Math Literacy), High School Graduation, and Post-Secondary Education/Career Success.

The wheel is rolling and we will need your input, and support. Let’s make Kenosha a place where all its citizens thrive because we have supported and nurtured our next generation, to live into their geniuses.
