Let's Get Your Child Ready for Kindergarten! / ¡Preparemos a Su Hijo(a) para el Jardín de Niños!

8/30/2021

Building Our Future's Smart Beginnings Network recently came together to define what "Kindergarten Readiness" looks like for the Kenosha County community. This definition has woven its way into a beautiful handout and a cute animated video for parents and caregivers. We are excited to share the video below! For more information on Kindergarten Readiness, how it's defined, and how it's measured, please visit our Smart Beginnings dashboard.

You might be surprised to learn that being ready for kindergarten doesn't mean teaching your child math and reading. Rather, your child is ready for kindergarten when they have developed a love of learning and are curious to learn new things. Helping your child prepare for kindergarten will help them have a more positive and successful experience in school. In this video, explore how you can help your child succeed in kindergarten - and beyond!

BOF's Podcast "Together, We're Better" drops new episodes every month!

8/16/2021

In episode four of Together, We’re Better, Building Our Future Community Engagement Manager Brandon Morris hosts a conversation with Suzi Wolf, the Early Intervention Program Manager for KAC; Lynn Debilzen, BOF’s Director of Impact & Strategy; and Laurie McDonald, the former Director of Community Impact for United Way of Kenosha County. We talk about the Continuous Improvement Cohort BOF convened in partnership with StriveTogether. It's a GREAT overview of the work we do and the approach we take.

Laurie explains, “I think we all do [continuous improvement] subconsciously, where we’re constantly looking at what we can improve… The difference with the CI Cohort was you really took the time to dive into [your] program or service, and to me, that time, the tools, and the coaching alongside it, was so beneficial.”
