Young people actively shape the decisions that impact their lives and communities.
About the Youth Voice Project: This initiative offers high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors an exciting opportunity to actively engage in decisions that impact their lives and participate in projects that amplify their voices within our community. Through this program, students will: 
​
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Gain hands-on experience in organizing and event planning
  • Participate in our annual Youth-Led School Board Candidate Forum (March 2027)
  • Help plan and lead our annual Youth-Led Stride for Minds 3k Mental Health Walk-Run (May 2027)
  • Take part in community projects and initiatives developed by the Youth Voice Project team

Students will lead these projects with guidance and support from Building Our Future staff. 
What You'll Gain: Over six months, this leadership development program will empower you to realize your potential and design projects that raise awareness about causes you're passionate about. It's also a great way to earn community service hours!

Destiny's Journey

At Building Our Future, we believe in elevating community voices - especially our youth! Destiny, a KUSD graduate and junior at Carthage College, has come full circle - after years as an active participant, she lead our Youth Voice Project for two years as an intern.
