Get Kids Ready Community of Practice

Picture
What is Get Kids Ready?
Get Kids Ready is a free school readiness program for 4-year-olds in participating child care centers, funded through Wisconsin’s 2025 state budget. With $66 million in state support, the program helps children develop the academic, social, and everyday skills they need to succeed in school.

Child care providers receive funding for the time children spend in the program, making participation free for families and expanding access to high-quality early learning. Families and providers can learn more on the Wisconsin DCF website.

What is a Community of Practice?
The Get Kids Ready Community of Practice is a collaborative space where providers can share resources, ask questions, and support one another as they implement the program. This community helps participants navigate eligibility, curriculum, and day-to-day operations while providing feedback to strengthen the program over time.

About the Partnership

The Wisconsin Partnership is a coalition of local organizations, including Building Our Future, working in Brown, Kenosha, and Racine Counties, as well as the City of Milwaukee. With a shared commitment to Early Childhood Education (ECE), including Kindergarten Readiness and Early Literacy, we seek to transform systems and ensure all young people have a pathway to economic mobility. Grounded in data-driven decision-making and authentic community engagement, our partnership aims to put 10,000 more young people on a path to success by 2030.

Our Mission

As a coalition, we advocate for statewide policy changes to improve access to high-quality early childhood education and support Wisconsin’s economic prosperity. Our 2025 legislative agenda prioritizes stabilizing the child care industry through dedicated state funding, expanding affordability programs like WI Shares, and increasing compensation for early childhood educators. Additionally, we support early literacy initiatives, including funding for science-based reading curricula and increased special education reimbursement. By advancing sustainable, high-impact policies, we are working to ensure every Wisconsin child has the opportunity to thrive.
