What is the FAFSA?

FAFSA, or the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is the first step in unlocking federal financial aid for college, university, and trade school. By completing the FAFSA, students become eligible for grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and federal loans, making higher education more affordable and accessible.

Filling out the FAFSA is crucial, as billions of dollars in federal aid go unclaimed each year. In 2023 alone, high school seniors left over $4 billion in Pell Grants unclaimed. In Wisconsin, an estimated 36% of high school graduates did not submit their FAFSA. We are committed to helping students complete their FAFSA and access the financial aid they deserve.
Why is FAFSA Important?
Completing the FAFSA is essential for unlocking a wide range of financial aid options, including grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and low-interest federal student loans. It’s a key step toward making higher education more affordable and accessible.
