Last month, Building Our Future and Higher Expectations for Racine County hosted the 2nd Annual FAFSA Summit at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Together with Kenosha Unified School District, Racine Unified Schools, and local post-secondary institutions, we discussed the challenge of improving FAFSA completion rates across our region.
Currently, nearly 60% of high school seniors in Kenosha and Racine have not completed the FAFSA for the 2024-25 school year. FAFSA is a key step in supporting students on their journey to post-secondary success, and we’re committed to reversing this trend. Through the Equitable Enrollment Collaborative, we’re working with partners to implement targeted strategies to drive progress toward our Collective Vision: By 2028, 62% of all high school graduates in our region will enroll in a post-secondary program the first fall after graduation. Explore last year’s FAFSA data on our website: FAFSA Completions. We’re delighted to welcome Brandon Morris back to the Building Our Future team! Starting in January 2025, Brandon will step into the role of Partnership Development Manager. With his prior experience and passion for our mission, Brandon is well-positioned to strengthen collaborations that drive meaningful change in our community. We look forward to his contributions and leadership in this key role!
This Giving Tuesday, we are reflecting on the impact we’ve achieved together, and looking ahead to the important work still to be done. At Building Our Future, we are committed to ensuring every child and family in Kenosha County has the opportunity to thrive—through early childhood education, improved literacy rates, post-secondary success, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Your partnership has been instrumental in driving this mission forward. As we look to the future, we invite you to join us once again in creating meaningful change by supporting our work this Giving Tuesday. Every contribution directly strengthens our ability to innovate, collaborate, and empower students from cradle to career. Here’s how you can help:
