With the new school year right around the corner, many families are thinking about whether their child is ready for kindergarten. Here’s the good news: kindergarten readiness isn’t about making sure your child can already read, write, or do math. It’s about supporting the whole child and helping them develop a love of learning, curiosity, confidence, and the skills they need to thrive. Our Smart Beginnings Network partners came together to create this video to help parents and caregivers better understand what kindergarten readiness really means — and simple ways they can support their child’s success in kindergarten and beyond. 🎒 As back-to-school season begins, take a few minutes to watch and share with a parent or caregiver preparing for this exciting next step! The Reading Resource Hub Is Here!
Families play a critical role in helping children become strong readers, but finding literacy resources can often be overwhelming. That’s why Building Our Future and community partners created the Reading Resource Hub, a new resource designed to make it easier for families to find opportunities that support children’s reading development. The Hub is a reimagined version of the Community Literacy Asset Map, incorporating community feedback to create a more accessible and easy-to-navigate tool. It brings local reading programs, book access opportunities, literacy events, and other resources together in one place. Developed through the collaboration of partners in Building Our Future’s Early Grade Reading Work Team, the Hub reflects a shared commitment to strengthening early literacy and making it easier for families to connect with resources in their community. Every family deserves access to quality child care they can afford and rely on. Child care impacts parents’ and caregivers’ ability to work, support their children, achieve financial stability, and contribute to our local economy. To better understand the experiences and needs of Kenosha County parents and caregivers, Building Our Future’s Smart Beginnings Network is conducting a countywide Child Care Survey, with support from the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce and the Kenosha Area Business Alliance. Your anonymous feedback will help identify local child care needs and provide employers, community leaders, and policymakers with information to help strengthen the child care system. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Take the survey or share it with a parent or caregiver: https://dub.sh/Bof26 |
